Blue Sky Tag || ALSO I GRADUATED!!!!!! || 2018 Edition

Hi everyone! Today, I’m doing the Blue Sky Tag again! (If you haven’t read my first tag, check it out here!). Thanks, Hailey, for tagging me!

ALSO GUYS THIS IS THE FIRST BLOGPOST I’M WRITING AS A *GRADUATE*!!!!!!!! I still can’t comprehend it either, honestly.  I FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL. (also this Blue Sky tag was Hailey’s first blogpost post-high school, and I’m very excited about how perfect that is)

Blue Sky Tag.png

The rules for the tag are: thank the person who tagged you and answer their 11 questions, then tag 11 more people and give them 11 questions to answer. So, here are her questions and my answers!

  1. Why did you start your blog?
Believe it or not . . . I don’t really know? I initially started it to log some random thoughts that I had, and posted little life updates on it. This blog is now LONG DEAD, but its successor, which is still semi-active, is here.
THIS blog I started to write more legit blogposts on, once I was more accustomed to writing things to post on the internet. So basically, I started blogging because I’m a chronic oversharer. #oops.
  2. If you could have dinner with any one person who’s alive right now, who would you choose?
Hmmm…..in creative terms, I would have to say someone who’s pursued their dreams and been successful, so maybe someone like Abbie or dodie. In more practical terms, probably someone who’s done something cool in my field. (MY WORD I’M A COLLEGE STUDENT NOW I’M SO PROFESSIONAL)
  3. Favorite book of the Bible and why?
For the Old Testament, definitely Proverbs. I love all the pieces of wisdom that are contained within it, in such easy to read form. For the New Testament, it’s less certain, but I really love First Corinthians. It’s such a beautiful book.
  4. Favorite music genre to listen to?
Well, considering my music just went from pop to christmas to movie soundtrack to musical to kpop to classical? I DON’T KNOW MYSELF??? I think mostly indie (though I’m really bad at finding new artists to listen to SO GIVE ME YOUR RECS). But also a lot of pop. (also whatever Taylor Swift is??)
Also fun fact about me! 9 times out of 10, I’m shuffling all of my music on Spotify and it’s a wild ride, honestly.
    headphones-3021221_1920
  5. What’s your earliest memory?
I have some vague ones of being in the car (particularly one of my mom telling me not to kick the back of the driver’s seat, which, WOW my legs were short enough to be able to kick the top of the back of the driver’s seat). I also have several of my mom playing with me, and I specifically remember when I was practicing piano (age 6 maybe?) and was very frustrated and bit the edge of the music stand. The teeth marks are still there.
  6. What job would you be great at, and what job would you be horrible at?
I’ve said many times that a job I’d be amazing at would be those minimum-wage customer service jobs? Like those at McDonalds or stuff like that–I love working with people and serving people, and I honestly just think that would be an amazing working environment for me. If it weren’t for the fact that it’s not really sustainable.
A job I’d be horrible at would be, ironically, what I’m planning on doing: a office type, sealed-away, mad-scientist job. I love working with people, and a job like that wouldn’t be fun, or good for me.
  7. Dream vacation spot?
Definitely the Maldives or Bora Bora (or Hawai’i. I’m not picky). I’ve not been to any beachy-islands, but they are sO PRETTY. I WANT TO GO SO BADLY. But also Europe, because exPERIENCE.
  8. When writing, are you a plotter or a pantser?
HA I don’t write! But I would definitely be a pantser, I think, if I were to write. (Case in point: Hailey tagged me in this over a year ago, and I’m just reading the questions and writing the post now . . . less than a day before it goes up!)
    Untitled design
  9. What makes you angry?
So many things, honestly, but not many of which actually matter (#oops). Some include: people underestimating homeschoolers, people UNDERESTIMATING homeschoolers, PEOPLE UNDERESTIMATING HOMESCHOOLERS, and PEOPLE UNDERESTIMATING HOMESCHOOLERS. It’s a rather extensive list.
  10. What accomplishments in your life are you most proud of?
THE FACT THAT I FREAKING GRADUATED???? LIKE, I FINISHED HIGH SCHOOL. I AM A FUNCTIONING ADULT WITH A SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION. But aside from that? I placed 7th nationwide once for Science Olympiad, which is super nerdy but which I’m SUPER proud of, if only for the reason that I managed to get that far. I’m also really proud of the memoir I wrote after being in Science Olympiad, and several blogposts (and all of blogging in general). I’m a simple person to please XD
  11. What has God been teaching you lately?
Along with the fact that I GRADUATED and the fact that I MOVE OUT IN 71 DAYS, it’s just been a huge season of change for me, and it’s been hard coming to face that. uGH.

I tag:

  1. Lisa at Inkwell.
  2. Kara at Beautifully Broken.
  3. Julia at The Barefoot Gal.
  4. Maggie at Dreaming of Guatemala.
  5. Nichole at Thoughtful Inklings.
  6. Vanessa at Simply Me.
  7. Evangeline at An Odd Blog.
  8. Charley at The Miss Charley.
  9. Riley at Riley Aline.
  10. Maddy at Little Bit of Sunshine
  11. Hannah at Plottinger Twist

Go check out all these lovely girls! They all have such fun and amazing blogs. 🙂

The rules are as follows: thank the person who tagged you and answer their 11 questions, then tag 11 more people and give them 11 questions to answer. (And if I didn’t tag you but you’d like to participate, please do!)

  1. How do you spend your money? Are you more of a saver or a spender, and what takes the most of your money?
  2. What is the pettiest thing you’ve ever done?
  3. Would you rather have a lot of acquaintances or a few close friends, and why?
  4. What book do you first remember reading?
  5. What is your most recent/most recent God-moment? (for those who don’t know, a God-moment is a moment that just works out so perfectly, and afterwards is just so apparent that God had his hands on the whole situation)
  6. If you had to choose between blogging and whatever other creative pursuits you have (writing, YouTube, photography, etc), which would you choose, and why?
  7. What are the books that you recommend to people?
  8. What language do you want to learn/have learned?
  9. What makes you angry? (same question as Hailey’s, because I’m so interested!)
  10. If you could eliminate one weakness from your life right now, what would it be?
  11. What is your top love language?

And that’s it! Thanks, Hailey, again for tagging me! What makes YOU angry? I’m so interested in finding out! ALSO! I’m looking for reads for my summer reading list. Drop me alLLLLLLL your recs!

    readsnoopy
Anything historical fiction! Also non-romance contemprary, and not-too-gory mysteries/crime/stuffs. As for authors, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Agatha Christie, Beverly Cleary, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. (also ps my GoodReads is in the sidebar: follow me there *googles “how to self-promo bc I can’t”*)
  4. What is your favorite type of music?

    imbrilliant.gif
No, but seriously. I do a bunch of book reviews, so there’s that. I also do Currently posts and Monthly Recaps, and also some Bullet Journal posts, and a bunch of random stuff that I randomly decide to do, like recipes and crafts, and thoughts, and….yeah, just *stuff* that I come up with.
  6. Why did you start blogging?
Initially, I wanted to make a website showcasing all the things I had learned from doing rocks and minerals in Science Olympiad, so I started a small website (which is still active but which I will not link because it’s so cringy) that included a small blog filled with random thoughts that me as a middle schooler had. (and also thus why my site is called RocksandMinerals4Him) Many of these thought posts are now at my blogger blog (which I don’t really use anymore either). As for this blog, I had to create a WordPress username for a cooperate blog for school, so I made a blog then. I randomly decided to post my New Years Resolutions for 2015 one day, and then just got started “officially” blogging!
  7. What is the best thing to do on a rainy day?
    Stay inside and knit! knittingfuriously

Or read. Or cook food. Or blog.

  8. How has this month been so far?
Well, there’s only been 6 days (at the time of writing) so far, so I mean, it’s not been bad. Lots of school, blogging, stuff. The weather’s been pretty nice so far, so I like it.
    snowsun
  9. What do you love to do outside of school//work?
This question has mostly been answered up above, but I love to play music, knit, read, cook, and pretend I can do artsy things.
  10. What is your favorite comfort food? Hmmmm….I don’t know. I think it varies with how I feel…cookies, ice cream, chips and dip, cheese…it’s all junk, hehe.COOKIES ARE THE BEST THOUGH. HAVE YOU SEEN ME BLOG ABOUT COOKIES YET?

The Holiday Favorites Tag || Blogmas Day 2

G’day, blog readers! So I was floundering as to an idea for Blogmas Day 2, Abi, from Happily Abi, posted a Holiday Favorites tag, and sweetly dropped it in my lap. So BECAUSE I’M A GENIUS LIKE THAT obviously, I stole the tag.

So for Blogmas Day 2, I present to you…The Holiday Favorites Tag!

Blogmas Button2.jpg

Here are the rules.

r-1

Let’s get started!

What Is Your Favorite…

Activity to do during the Holidays?

Hmm…I’m usually knitting furiously because I’ve procrastinated all year on presents…

knittingfuriously.gif

I’m also probably reading like crazy, and doing end of year “let’s finish this soon so I can actually say I accomplished this New Year’s Resolution” thingies.

It’s *usually* relaxing, and I enjoy it. 🙂

Seasonal Drink?

HOT CHOCOLATE. ALL OF IT. Bonus points if it’s mint or has whipped cream. Double bonus points if there’s both. Triple bonus points if there’s cookies.

cocoa.gif

Christmas Movie?

Um…what’s it called. The one with Kris Kringle (because that’s not all of them). *snaps fingers*

The Miracle on 34th Street! That’s what it’s called! ITS SO GOOD.

kringle.gif

Memory? (Include a photo if you have one!)

Hmm…I’d have to say spending Christmas with my cousins down in LA. That was a fun Christmas. ❤

Candle Scent?

ALL OF THEM. I’m not kidding. ALL OF THEM.

candle.gif

Food or Recipe? (Link it if you’d like!)

Addictive Double Chocolate Mint Cookies! I made them for the first time last year, and I’VE LOVED THEM. I’ve made them once already this year, and they’re SO GOOD.

Cookie.jpg

Place to spend the Holidays?

HOME! I really don’t like going on vacation for Christmas, because after we get home, it’s time for school again, and I never feel like I actually got a break.

Image result for there's no place like home gif

Christmas Tune?

Um. ALL OF THEM.

But really? The Christmas Can-Can, Carol of the Bells, Sleigh Ride, and anything Pentatonix.

Image result for christmas music gif

Gift You’ve Given or Received?

Hmmm…I’ve made knitted stuffs for Christmas presents, and I’m always pretty DARN proud of the stuff I knit. Also cookies. BECAUSE COOKIES.

Decoration you own? (Include a photo if you have one!)

Um. The clear ornaments that I’m going to decorate for Blogmas tomorrow or the day after. They’re going to be awesomes. 😀

BONUS QUESTION: What is your ideal Christmas Eve?

Staying at home, preferably by a fire, with a book, and knitting, and hot chocolate, and Christmas music, then going to the Christmas Eve service at church in the evening.

As for tagging, I tag anyone who doesn’t have posts for Blogmas and needs something quick to steal so that they don’t get behind (aka I’m describing myself rn)

Here are the questions.

  2. Seasonal Drink?

Sweater Weather Tag!

PSAPSA GUYSSSSS THIS IS MY 100TH POST!!!!! EEEEPPPPP!!

Elizabeth, at Let All the Earth Rejoice,  did this sweater weather tag last year, and, since I love tags, I thought I’d tag along! I saw it last year, but didn’t have time/posts to do it, thus a post a year late. 😛 sweaterweather

1. Favorite candle scent: I don’t think I have a particular favorite, but I do LOVE burning candles in the fall!

2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate? Generally, tea, but occasionally hot chocolate.

3. What’s the best fall memory you have? Hmm….probably having Thanksgiving at my cousins’ house a couple years back.

4. Best fragrance for fall:  Hmm….I don’t usually do fragrances, but I do love the smell of pumpkin pie spice/pumpkin pie!

5. Most worn sweater: I got this sweater from Land’s End last fall on sale in a hot pink color-

sweater

I wear it all. the. time. Only it’s more of a early winter color, not fall-y as much.

6. Football games or jumping in leaf piles? Definitely jumping in leaf piles…. 😀

7. Skinny jeans or leggings? Skinny jeans, as long as they’re not TOO tight.

8. Combat boots or Uggs? No real preference….but Uggs are cool.

9. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype? Yes! Definitely!

10. Favorite fall TV show: I don’t get the people who watch TV shows. YouTube? Maybe. TV shows? Waste of brain power, time, and just, ugh. Nope.

11. What do you want to be for Halloween? I don’t do Halloween.

12. Hats or scarves? Both are good, but I wear scarves WAYYYY more.

13. What’s your #1 favorite thing about fall?
Beautiful weather, leaves, candles.

School Year Goals 2016-2017 ||Back to School 2016

Wowwwwww. How am I a junior already? I started this blog my freshman year, and it’s been 2 1/2 years, and I’m staring down the barrel of the PSAT and SAT….AAGH!! I literally cannot imagine why I’m a junior already. EESH.

Every year so far in high school, I’ve done a post about my School Year Goals, because I’m such a goal-oriented person. If you haven’t seen these before, I go over last year’s goals and see how well I did on them, then add my goals for this year.

(Also, as I’m writing this, I’m listening to Meghan Trainer, and I’m just realizing how awesome and upbeat and inspiring her music is–and it’s so awesome!!)

So…without further ado…I bring you…

back to school

First, last year’s goals.

  1. Honor God more in what I do Well…this is one of those really ambiguous, hard to measure types of goals. I mean…I did a year-round Bible reading plan? Oh, and I also did a Worldview class, in which I learned how to defend my faith and about how other faiths work, so that i’m better able to witness to them. I also *tried* to be more humble and stuffs…so I guess it counts? Success
  2. Get a 5 in at least one AP course (which is really important, because if I don’t get a 5, then I’ll have to go to school next year. :/) …still no 5 *sigh* I did better than I did last year, though! Although I didn’t take any AP courses, I took 2 AP tests and got 4’s on them. So I’ve improved! Yay!! (And also, my parents switched the conditions to ‘if I passed’ so, I get to stay homeschooled!) Fail
  3. Get a 800 in a SAT subject test. This was sad. I took Math I, and it was really fun and easy…the only error I made was that I took it at the end of 2 other tests (SAT subject tests work that way)…so although I could do all the problems, I ended up messing up a lot, and so…yeah…no. XD Fail
  4. Take the SAT. Yeah, no, this didn’t happen. I did take the PSAT, though, and did decently well on it, so that counts for something? Maybe…hehe. And also I took subject tests, so that took down one more SAT date. Fail
  5. Get at least A’s in all my courses- Um. Yeah?! I ended the year with A’s (no A-‘s, yay!). If you want a taste of what I took last year, read my Sophomore Year Reflections, which has what I took and how I liked the classes and all that stuffs. The stuff about my tests are also on there too. Success.
  6. Play more music, including starting a flute choir. Um. Well…OH WAIT I STARTED PLAYING BASSOON!! yup, more music. Check. XD But anyways, this year was legitimately music-filled. I had private lessons in flute, piano, AND bassoon; played flute and bassoon in band; and played flute with friends! So I guess that kinda counts as flute choir? I mean, it’s only happened twice so far, but still, it counts and we’re planning on doing more in the future! Success
  7. Volunteer at least 100 hours (I’m homeschooled; what can you do? XD) Okay, Imma be honest. I didn’t log volunteer hours this year. 😦 (and yes, I’m really bad, and colleges want to see it, and all that crap, and I’ll have to get to it someday *spouts more excuses that you don’t want to listen to*). I volunteered in the church Sunday School for 4 year olds, as well as in the nursury a few times, and I also volunteered in AWANA all year. I also did some in the county fair, and also since apparently going to nursing homes and playing music counts, I did that too. So although I don’t know the exact number of hours, I’m going to count that I did it, because I don’t know if I could have volunteered more than I already did. Success.
  8. Take at least 5 standardized (as in big, important, life/career changing) tests PSAT, AP US History, AP Biology, SAT US History, SAT Biology, SAT Math I. YUSHHH, or rather, Success.

I got 6/10, 1 better than last year! Yay!!

Okay…so now on to this year’s goals!

  1. Rely more on God and give Him the glory.
  2. Score within 8% of last year’s PSAT score.
  3. Get my first 5 on an AP test
  4. Get at least A’s in all my other classes (physics and world history)
  5. Make SciOly nationals (we didn’t make it last year; I didn’t make it part of my goals, but we SHALL this year. ;P)
  6. Play lots of music, improve my musical ear (aka don’t be yelled at for being out of tune every week at band), and learn more piano pieces.
  7. Try doing something different
  8. Learn how to take cute and pretty notes
  9. Take the SAT and 5 other tests and don’t fail
  10. Have fun and don’t die (ideas: listen to more music, get outside more often, disconnect from the internet more often, live life, don’t die)

So these are the goals I’m setting for myself this year! What are some of the things you want to achieve this year?

What’s in My Backpack 2016 | Back to School

EYY Back to School blogposts!

Here’s my “What’s in My Backpack” for this year! I did this last year as well….it’s right here. wait actually on second thought don’t read it because the pictures are horrendous

I’m going to start out with my backpack. It’s a Costco High Sierra backpack that’s purple. I don’t actually really like it, but I’m too lazy to do anything with it.

P1070918.jpg

Okay, now we have that picture out of the way, all the rest of the pictures are very horribly taken and edited.

And….my pens.

This year, I actually have a pencil pouch! I actually like this pencil pouch…it’s actually big enough to hold all my pens and highlighters and colored pens and pencils and stapler and glue stick and post-its and scissors and you get the point.

p1070897p1070900

And…notebooks. This year, I actually put some effort in. These are DIY’ed notebooks (well, all except that last 3 subject one). Acrylic paint+tags/owl coloring pages/mandela printouts. I really like it.

p1070745p1070904

And obviously you can see how much I blasted the saturation between the first and second pictures.

This year, I got a bunch of stuff at Walmart. And this year, I tried to actually be put together! lookit.

p1070910

Seriously. So. Put. Together. 1 notebook, 1 binder, 1 3-subject, 1 paper folder, 1 pencil case, and tape. This is literally the first (and probably only) time I’ve done it in my entire life.

And also. I’m obsessed with planners and calendars and stuff…but I’m really bad at actually writing in them. So here’s a picture of what looks to be my planner.

p1070902

Also, I was inspired by a LaurDIY YouTube video (here) to make a To-Do List organizer! I put washi tape around the side and some Bible verse stickers at the top.

p1070920

hee you can see the light reflection in the background. I like this picture anyways.

This year, I’m a better blogger and don’t post 2 million pictures of stupid things that  I don’t actually need for school. Seriously. Water bottles, scrunchies, my phone, Bible cover, and a periodic table poster? Really, last-year me?

Okay, I hope you enjoyed that. I’m so boring.
