What Happened This Month: June 2017

and thus concludes another month. It was an eventful month: the end of the school year and the beginning of summer (and work); it was a month of many, many birthdays of people I love. It was also a good month for my twitter analytics, apparently.

  • SO MANY BIRTHDAYS. Jeneca, Anna Joy, Aimee, Lindsey, Sydney, Vanessa, Abbiee, and my best friend. ❤
  • My cousin came over and stayed at our house for two weeks! We also went to NYC together, so that was fun. *spouts Hamilton lyrics*
  • I ‘participated’ in my first 24hour readathon, even though I only finished one and a half books
  • Twitter updated. It’s sleek but weird
  • I started my summer internship. Working 40 hours a week is INTENSE and now I know why everyone on twitter is like #TGIF
  • I revealed the pronunciation of my name to the world and everyone was confused

  • This thread happened

  • The Science Olympiad events for 2018 came out and I got unrealistically excited, particularly because I’m not even doing it next year
  • This

  • I found MBTI Bingo Cards and they are the best thing ever. Also, I’m stereotypically ESFP
  • Reading A Series of Unfortunate Events, and seeing everyone who’s already read it on GoodReads and feeling like you’ve entered some Secret Reading Club
  • Being much too sassy for my own good on my Music Theory notes
  • A little boy at the grocery store who was so happy that his mom bought him his very own drink that he waved at me

  • When you’re at work writing to-do lists of all the things you’re going to do when you get home, but then actually be at home on social media because the wifi at work is terrible
  • When you’re cleaning out your backpack and find a bunch of gum…all partially unwrapped at the bottom
  • Being in the campus library with your backpack upstairs to keep from eating all the food before 2pm
  • Accidentally walking in between a gay couple holding hands in New York City
  • Accidentally being in New York City the week of #NYCPride and being inundated with RAINBOW EVERYTHING
  • The week you’re off work, the office does pizza, team building, and escape room
  • Overhearing two ladies talking about being on their period . . . then seeing that they’re wearing white and pale pink pants
  • Light green and purple scrapbook paper. Like ??? UGLY MUCH???

That Moment When-

  • You’re off twitter for ONE DAY and have to spend 45 minutes catching up
  • There are calluses on your dominant index finger and you can’t type with it on your screen
  • You’re not a gambler, but you wore white jeans
  • One small thing suddenly reminds you of how much you miss something you didn’t know you missed 😭😭💕💕

“Basically, I sound like I know what I’m doing but really, I have no idea” ~me when people ask about college stuff

“I’m going on a keto-diet! No bread, nothing!”

“Oh, it’s national army day today? Time to celebrate! …with cookies”

“Come on, let’s go before I cart away the whole library.” ~me, while carrying 20 books

  • Spring Song by Mendelssohn, piano
  • Bach’s Inventio 5, piano
  • Moonlight Sonata by Mozart, piano
  • Rondo in D Major by Mozart, flute

photo from Pinterest

  • Band started!
  • Starting Awana and having a group with lots of cute kids.

  • Making tight buns that are actually stable and don’t come apart in two secons
  • Using my new phone to be productive
  • Starting a bullet journal

Bullet Journal.jpg

  • Happi conversations with M

  • Fall.
  • Your teacher grading right as you work, so you can see your grade going up each time you hit submit.
  • Getting back your computer which works now finally. (yay!)
  • Making a blog button.

  • Dropping caterpillar skins and poop all over the floor
  • Coughing through the first note the band plays all year.
  • Deciding on a phone case cover design but not actually going to get a cover, so going around with a sheet of scrapbook paper taped to the back of your phone
  • Eating salad straight from the big salad bowl because there was one portion left and I was too lazy to wash another bowl. Besides, there wasn’t anyone around to watch me.
  • Finally figuring out what OPACY is after following the Orioles for a really long time. (It stands for Orioles’ Park at Camden Yards). Also, you would know this if you were following my Twitter because that’s literally all I post about).

That Moment When-

  • You receive an ARC that you don’t remember asking for
  • You write your physics assignment on your hand then wash it off before writing it down on paper, so you have to ask someone literally 20 minutes after class ends.
  • The three “suggested follow”s on Twitter are other baseball teams because you follow a baseball team. #whatoneartheven #itdoesntworkthatway
  • Abeka World History defines Islam as “A fanatical militant new religion that sprang from the fervid imagination of an Arab mystic.” #likewhateven #nobiasatall #yeahright

  • You check the forecast and it says something like “53% chance of rain at 10:23 tomorrow morning, 56% at 10:47, 42% at 10:54” #WOEeven

Does this not describe everybody’s procrastination life, or is it just me?

And also this from the debate:

Clinton: “I have a feeling that by, the end of this evening, I’m going to be blamed for everything that’s ever happened.”
Trump: “Why not? Why not?”
Clinton: “Yeah, ‘Why not?’ You know, just join the debate by saying more crazy things.”

What’s happened this month for you?

What Happened This Month: August 2016

So apparently it’s the end of August already. And apparently school’s started already. And apparently I’m like 5 posts behind blogging-wise.

I’m wondering whether to back-date the posts or to just post them late…will decide soon. So far, the online class I’ve been taking are taking up much more work than I expected, and when I get done with the work there, I don’t want to stare at a computer screen anymore. Especially since the computer I’m using has a crappy screen and give me headaches.

Okay. Rant over. Let’s move on.

  • Physics camp! Getting to spend 2 weeks at my dream college doing science with geeky girls like me! What’s not to like?
  • Baking 6, 6! batches of cookies with friend. cookiers

This was, like, you know, the cookies that I was going to enter….

  • Raising monarch caterpillars, then releasing the butterflies.cats
  • COUNTY FAIR! And also working in the food booth with friends.fair1
  • Starting to teach piano lessons
  • Starting school(…?)

  • Getting a phone that one can actually do stuff with…then have friend follow suit two weeks later even though she’s 3 years younger than you. 😛
  • Replying to a query with the perfect song lyrics
  • Scoring baseball gamesscorecard
  • Baking lotsa lotsa cookies with friend
  • Twinning swimsuits with said friend.
  • Working in the food booth at the fair with said friend.
  • Meeting LITERALLY EVERYONE YOU KNOW at the fair
  • Sitting at a table eating ice cream with every. single. one. of your closest friends from different activities.

    Oversaturated? Check

  • Actually having your monarch caterpillars survive.
  • Having a sort-of theme on your Instagram
  • Teaching piano lessons
  • Playing flute with friends
  • Starting school
  • Finding that you know one of your online class TA’s irl.
  • Pretty notes!notes

  • Going swimming with your hair down and proceeding to strangle in it
  • Slicing your finger open on a cell phone stand…twice No, this totally does not sound exactly like the post from last month.
  • Not being able to type on slidy glass keyboards and making stupid typos (e.g. “I hope your picnic was indoors” to “I hope your pelican is indoors”.
  • Dropping a caterpillar on yourself, screaming, then proceeding to drop another caterpillar on yourself.
  • Having someone ask you at the store to get something from the top shelf for her, because you’re taller than she is, despite your 5’4″
  • Staying up to 2 or 3 am working on calculus homework

That Moment When…

  • You totally forget that “That Moment When” is a subcategory and thus do not remember to take notes about said category.

Musical Finds

This is a song by For King and Country on the new Ben Hur movie that came out, and I LOVE IT! It’s so inspirational and there are SO MANY good quotes in it.

This is an original song by Pentatonix, and it’s also another inspirational song that I really love right now.

Because I’m like officially addicted to Christmas music, and whoever editied this music video deserves a Grammy of their own.

Niki and Gabi, twin YouTubers (that I don’t really watch often, tbh) cover Fight Song (which I’ve featured many, many times before), but this cover is SO GOOD.

Groucho Marx: Laughs at First Sight|| Quotes

So recently, I found a quote by Groucho Marx.

“Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend.  Inside of a dog it’s too dark too read.”

Tell me that isn’t awesome.

So…I got on GoodReads, and found more quotes by this guy.

“I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.”

Eventually, I started sharing them with my friends. One friend, in particular, got a heavier load of Groucho Marx.

“I never forget a face, but in your case I’ll be glad to make an exception.”

We basically came to the same conclusion at the same time.

“I have had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn’t it.”

So I’m doing so.

“I intend to live forever, or die trying.”

Tell me this guy isn’t awesome.

“I must admit, I was born at an early age. ”

I’m running out of interesting things to say.

“In Hollywood, brides keep the bouquets and throw away the groom.”

And I’m sure Groucho Marx is more interesting anyways.

“There’s one way to find out if a man is honest – ask him. If he says “yes” you know he is a crook.”

So I’ll post a bunch of quotes here in a row and stop butting in.

“I’ve got a good mind to go out and join a club and beat you over the head with it.”

“Hello, I must be going, I cannot stay,
I came to say, I must be going.
I’m glad I came, but just the same,
I must be going.”

“Marriage is the chief cause of divorce.”

“Getting older is no problem. You just have to live long enough.”

“Marriage is a wonderful institution, but who wants to live in an institution?”

“In Hollywood, brides keep the bouquets and throw away the groom.”

“I have had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn’t it.”

“She got her looks from her father. He was a plastic surgeon”

“Last night I shot an elephant in my pyjamas and how he got in my pyjamas I’ll never know.”

‘Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana”

I’ll tell you at the end that he was a comedian. That killed some of the joy for me…he got paid for being funny! He was a great guy, still.
