A Week In My Life || Senior Year Homeschooling || Spring 2018

Hey everyone! I’m very close to finishing out my senior year, and closing out being homeschooled (waHT), and I realized that I never did a day in my life/week in my life type post. So, HERE IT IS!

A Week In My Life.png

(obviously, this is very simplified: every week is different, and I’m not talking about my morning/evening routines, or anything like that. My week is the only thing that is consistent enough to possibly write about)

Sunday

Sunday morning always begins with church: sometimes I help in children’s Sunday school with my mom, and sometimes I play flute in the service, but church always happens on Sunday mornings.

After church, I go home and eat lunch, clean my room, sometimes do some reading that I didn’t get done during the week.

In the afternoon, there is youth group, something my church puts on for middle and high schoolers, where we talk about topics and play games. I play on the worship team, so I get there a couple hours early to rehearse.

Sunday nights are usually when the deadlines of most of my classes are, so it’s usually spent rushing working to get everything turned in.

Monday

I have class Monday morning: calculus. Lots of fun. After I get home, I make coffee, unpack my backpack, and write out my to-do list and my assignments for the week. I finish the workbook assignments for my AP Lit class, and then take calculus notes.

IMG_20180129_164028_713

In the evening, there is a Science Olympiad meeting. Usually at these meetings, I work on gathering data and studying. Sometimes I work with the middle school team to get some bugs on their end sorted out.

Tuesday

Tuesday is my favorite day of the week. In the morning, I’m productive: usually doing online class homework, and sometimes cleaning my room. I usually get a lot of offline work done, such as notetaking and problem-solving.

Then, in the late afternoon and evening, there is band, the highlight of the week! The early part of the night, I help in the flute section of the younger band, or lead a sectional, then later on in the night, I play flute in my band.

Wednesday

I have class in the morning, and I usually stay and work in the campus library. Usually I comment on blogposts.

After I get home and eat lunch, I attend my music theory lab, where we do sightsinging and musical dictation, and all that fun stuff. After that, I do more homework, AP lit or music theory usually.

In the evening, I go help at AWANA Cubbies: a Bible memory club that our church hosts. Getting to work with three and four year olds is always fun.

Thursday

Thursday morning I work on school work and stuff, then around noon, I head to my church to fly helicopters for Science Olympiad with my partner. It works better some days than others, but it’s fun (usually).

2018-02-15 01.53.43 1

Once a month on Thursdays, I have a 4-H meeting, but usually, I head home. I teach piano in the afternoons to some family friends’ kids, which is fun (because I get paid).

In the evening, I attend a youth group discussion, where the seniors in youth groups from around the area get together to discuss what to expect during college, and being a Christian in college, which is always fun.

Friday

I have class again ><

When I get home, I write my blogpost that goes up, then homework, usually calculus and sometimes read.

2018-03-07 03.30.04 1

Friday afternoons are lots of fun. I go to my Science Olympiad coach’s house and we study for Science Olympiad. Usually I run a powder identification test for forensics, and we identify some rocks and minerals. I get to hang out with my friends and geek out about fun science things.

Saturday

These are all different, since there are different things I have to go to. Sometimes I have to work at the museum I volunteer at, but today I have a 4-H event to go to.

Saturday evening, I clean my room, because it’s gotten messy again over the week, and do something relaxing like read a book.

How did you like this post? What is a typical week in your life like? Are you finishing up the school year too?

April 2018 Recap || What Happened This Month

April was a weird month. While on one hand, I got a lot done and put out a bunch of blogposts I’m really proud of, it was also very emotionally draining because of lots of things ending. And aside from doing a lot of *stuff*, I wasn’t really productive either. So. it was weird. But I did a recap!

Currently_ February2018

Finishing-bookslam.gif

up high school! I got my senior pictures done a couple days ago, and I have about 10 weeks left of school, which is bitter sweet. I’m eager to be DONE with it all but also want to keep on going with the schedule that I have.

Subscribing-kitten

to college mail/news in general? It’s not very applicable to me right now, but I’ve been getting acceptance/otherwise letters and people that need confirmation and all that jazz. So fun. *eyeroll*

Wishlisting-library

BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS!!! I finally got into NetGalley (and with that, Kindle books in general) and got approved for WAY TOO MANY BOOKS!!! Which is slightly concerning since I already have 38 books on my TBR…and too many more on my wishlist.

Watching-

YouTube! My three favorite vlogging families, Aspyn and Parker, OKBaby and KKandBabyJ are together, and it’s so much fun! One of them is pregnant (<-Keren), one of them may be (the conspiracy theories!) and one *should* be (but is not). 😀

Hearting-

My lattes!! I got a latte maker for Christmas (like I’ve mentioned before), and I’ve been trying to make a latte (either of the coffee variety or else of the the chai variety)…someday I’ll get to the fancy pouring things XD.

So! What are you all currently up to? Comment down below and let me know!

Startingtime flies

a new semester! (It’s also my last semester of high school? like how does that work?) I’ve heard from a lot of people that the spring of senior year is going to be the easiest out of high school, and I’m really looking forward to that!

smart1Hoping

to be done with college applications soon? to be accepted to college(es)? Not sure, but recently my life has included a lot of late-night application deadline meeting, and I really hope to be done with that soon!

(realistically, I only have one or two left, so I’m really really close to being done . . . but it FEELS SO FAR AWAY OMG)

bloggingScheduling

new blogposts! I’ve been semi-away from my blog for a while, and I’m hoping to get back into it this year, before college starts and I’ll be super busy again. I have some interesting content ideas, so those will be coming soon! I just . . . err . . . need to find time to get those written.

(also look at ->)

library cardReading

LITERALLY ALL THE THINGS. At the end of last year on winter break, I went to the library . . . two days in a row. (BAD IDEA). My physical TBR pile is literally over 30 books right now, and er . . it’s a *small* problem.

Playingmusiclistening

music! I stopped listening to a lot of music the end of last year, and I’m slowly getting back to it right now, especially since I’ve been spending more time on the computer/doing actual work. (Also, band starts really soon and I’m SO EXCITED. There hasn’t been for a month, and I am so ready to start playing flute again omgns)

Your turn! What are you starting, hoping, scheduling, reading, and playing this week/month?

Linking up with Anne in Residence.

Blogmas Day 24: People from 2017

As the year draws to a close, I like writing a little note to each of the people that have made a difference in my life. Some have made it multiple times to the list; others just once. Either way, this is a post that I will look back on in future years and remember all the people who made me who I am.

Blogmas 2017(6).png

From 2017, I would like to thank

  • mom and dad, for always being supportive of me and my many hobbies and for always being willing to drive me all sorts of place
  • my brothers D + P, for becoming more of friends and less of kids this year
  • my Aunt S, Uncle R, and cousin E for visiting, and even though I had to work for most of the visit, had fun with us
  • “Grandma” and “grandpa” B and “aunt” L, for showing me what joy in the Lord means and for believing in me and praying for me.
  • “Grandma” and “grandpa” L, for loving on me and my family and for always checking up on me
  • MM, for always being willing to listen to me rant about everything that goes through my mind late at night, and for all the advice that you’ve given me this year
  • MM (the other one), for driving me everywhere, and for being such a good Christ-like friend and role model. Taking chemistry with you this year was fun!
  • KS, for always being there for me to talk to, and for the bond we always have, even if we haven’t talked much this year
  • Twitter friends, for being my online friends and for listening to my talks and my thoughts and for inspiring me with blogposts and tweets and for how hard you all work every day
  • my church friends, LM, KL, JO, KT, and YD, for our discussions about God and life and everything else
  • MS, CS, JC, EF, and KG for leading me further in knowing God, for investing time in me, and for showing me how to love others well
  • MY FRENS, including AS, ES, GM, AS, and RC, for listening to me go on all sorts of tangents and irrelevant stories and manage time poorly in general
  • SW, KB, MM, SC, DC, and DE (as well as others), for being wonderful SciOly partners/teammates and for never taking the fun out of study/work
  • WC, for being an amazing SciOly coach and for always pushing us to our full potential
  • EC, for always being so encouraging and understanding (and for putting up with my fiasco this year . . . and forgiving me afterwards). The older I get, the more I realize how much work and love you pour into us, when you don’t even have to!
  • my teachers BT, HJ, JW, TC, and GP, for teaching me and preparing me for both higher education and life in general (and for putting up with all the times I don’t get stuff done in time)
  • the people I interned with over the summer, AB, AY, RR, SW, AN, MSP, KM, SD, KC, KC, and DE, for making my first internship an enjoyable one and one where I learned a lot, for allowing me this opportunity, and for the adventures we’ve had together. I’m so grateful.
  • EM, WS, MHC, and EB, for being friends, mentors, and another adult for guidance and support (and goodness know, I need it)
  • my Cubbie BEARS, PH, EN, LM, NL, and AA, for being the best little Cubbbies I’ve had the privilege and honor to help lead towards God
  • my students AH and LH, who have made so much progress this year. Thank you for always practicing and stretching me as a teacher and a musician.
  • and to God of course. Everything I do in this life is dedicated to you, and even though this was a year of pursuing myself instead of you, you have still played an important part in my life and thank you for guiding me this year.

Who are you grateful for this year? I definitely recommend you taking stock of who has influenced your life and telling them thank you, because it is so so important! Life is so short.

Blogmas Day 6: Currrently || December 2017

Hi everyone! Welcome to the 6th day of Blogmas! Today, I’m joining Anne and Catherine talking about what I’m currently doing!
Blogmas Day 6

Lightingchristmastree

The Christmas tree! Our family actually put up the Christmas tree fairly early (for once) and we have our tree up! The only thing is, we somehow only have one string of lights so we’ll have to resolve that during the post Christmas sales 😂

todo.gifChoosing

18 before 18 goals…and stuff to put on my to-do list. Somehow, the end of the year (theoretically supposed to be a “break”) is SO BUSY!!! I’m also choosing to do things intentionally that don’t have deadlines because STRESS OMGNS.

Sendingkitten.gif

Christmas packages and cards! Our family has always managed to forget about sending out Christmas cards until very late in the year so I’m going to try to see if I can help with that and get those sent out…before the new year 😂

clockSpending

time with a purpose. There are so many things to do, and so little time to do it in, that everything I do needs to be purposeful…or else consequences happen 😅

Aside from studying for finals and college applications, I’m also doing blogmas and making a bunch of presents and AHHHH

Singingspotify-2017-wrapped

Uh Christmas carols? What else? I also got my Spotify yearly recap back and I’m actually rather surprised with what I got…all except for Evynne Hollens. I’m not surprised about that one at all 😂

(Also, in my defense, I’ve only had Spotify for about half the year, and had to work in a place where I didn’t have internet connection for 2 months XD, so it’s not *too* abnormally low?)

What are you doing this time of year? Is it your busiest month too? Are finals stressing you out? What are you currently lighting, choosing, spending, sending, and singing?
