Startingtime flies

a new semester! (It’s also my last semester of high school? like how does that work?) I’ve heard from a lot of people that the spring of senior year is going to be the easiest out of high school, and I’m really looking forward to that!

smart1Hoping

to be done with college applications soon? to be accepted to college(es)? Not sure, but recently my life has included a lot of late-night application deadline meeting, and I really hope to be done with that soon!

(realistically, I only have one or two left, so I’m really really close to being done . . . but it FEELS SO FAR AWAY OMG)

bloggingScheduling

new blogposts! I’ve been semi-away from my blog for a while, and I’m hoping to get back into it this year, before college starts and I’ll be super busy again. I have some interesting content ideas, so those will be coming soon! I just . . . err . . . need to find time to get those written.

(also look at ->)

library cardReading

LITERALLY ALL THE THINGS. At the end of last year on winter break, I went to the library . . . two days in a row. (BAD IDEA). My physical TBR pile is literally over 30 books right now, and er . . it’s a *small* problem.

Playingmusiclistening

music! I stopped listening to a lot of music the end of last year, and I’m slowly getting back to it right now, especially since I’ve been spending more time on the computer/doing actual work. (Also, band starts really soon and I’m SO EXCITED. There hasn’t been for a month, and I am so ready to start playing flute again omgns)

Your turn! What are you starting, hoping, scheduling, reading, and playing this week/month?

Blogmas Day 24: People from 2017

As the year draws to a close, I like writing a little note to each of the people that have made a difference in my life. Some have made it multiple times to the list; others just once. Either way, this is a post that I will look back on in future years and remember all the people who made me who I am.

Blogmas 2017(6).png

From 2017, I would like to thank

  • mom and dad, for always being supportive of me and my many hobbies and for always being willing to drive me all sorts of place
  • my brothers D + P, for becoming more of friends and less of kids this year
  • my Aunt S, Uncle R, and cousin E for visiting, and even though I had to work for most of the visit, had fun with us
  • “Grandma” and “grandpa” B and “aunt” L, for showing me what joy in the Lord means and for believing in me and praying for me.
  • “Grandma” and “grandpa” L, for loving on me and my family and for always checking up on me
  • MM, for always being willing to listen to me rant about everything that goes through my mind late at night, and for all the advice that you’ve given me this year
  • MM (the other one), for driving me everywhere, and for being such a good Christ-like friend and role model. Taking chemistry with you this year was fun!
  • KS, for always being there for me to talk to, and for the bond we always have, even if we haven’t talked much this year
  • Twitter friends, for being my online friends and for listening to my talks and my thoughts and for inspiring me with blogposts and tweets and for how hard you all work every day
  • my church friends, LM, KL, JO, KT, and YD, for our discussions about God and life and everything else
  • MS, CS, JC, EF, and KG for leading me further in knowing God, for investing time in me, and for showing me how to love others well
  • MY FRENS, including AS, ES, GM, AS, and RC, for listening to me go on all sorts of tangents and irrelevant stories and manage time poorly in general
  • SW, KB, MM, SC, DC, and DE (as well as others), for being wonderful SciOly partners/teammates and for never taking the fun out of study/work
  • WC, for being an amazing SciOly coach and for always pushing us to our full potential
  • EC, for always being so encouraging and understanding (and for putting up with my fiasco this year . . . and forgiving me afterwards). The older I get, the more I realize how much work and love you pour into us, when you don’t even have to!
  • my teachers BT, HJ, JW, TC, and GP, for teaching me and preparing me for both higher education and life in general (and for putting up with all the times I don’t get stuff done in time)
  • the people I interned with over the summer, AB, AY, RR, SW, AN, MSP, KM, SD, KC, KC, and DE, for making my first internship an enjoyable one and one where I learned a lot, for allowing me this opportunity, and for the adventures we’ve had together. I’m so grateful.
  • EM, WS, MHC, and EB, for being friends, mentors, and another adult for guidance and support (and goodness know, I need it)
  • my Cubbie BEARS, PH, EN, LM, NL, and AA, for being the best little Cubbbies I’ve had the privilege and honor to help lead towards God
  • my students AH and LH, who have made so much progress this year. Thank you for always practicing and stretching me as a teacher and a musician.
  • and to God of course. Everything I do in this life is dedicated to you, and even though this was a year of pursuing myself instead of you, you have still played an important part in my life and thank you for guiding me this year.

Who are you grateful for this year? I definitely recommend you taking stock of who has influenced your life and telling them thank you, because it is so so important! Life is so short.

Blogmas Day 6: Currrently || December 2017

Hi everyone! Welcome to the 6th day of Blogmas! Today, I’m joining Anne and Catherine talking about what I’m currently doing!
Blogmas Day 6

Lightingchristmastree

The Christmas tree! Our family actually put up the Christmas tree fairly early (for once) and we have our tree up! The only thing is, we somehow only have one string of lights so we’ll have to resolve that during the post Christmas sales ๐Ÿ˜‚

todo.gifChoosing

18 before 18 goals…and stuff to put on my to-do list. Somehow, the end of the year (theoretically supposed to be a “break”) is SO BUSY!!! I’m also choosing to do things intentionally that don’t have deadlines because STRESS OMGNS.

Sendingkitten.gif

Christmas packages and cards! Our family has always managed to forget about sending out Christmas cards until very late in the year so I’m going to try to see if I can help with that and get those sent out…before the new year ๐Ÿ˜‚

clockSpending

time with a purpose. There are so many things to do, and so little time to do it in, that everything I do needs to be purposeful…or else consequences happen ๐Ÿ˜…

Aside from studying for finals and college applications, I’m also doing blogmas and making a bunch of presents and AHHHH

Singingspotify-2017-wrapped

Uh Christmas carols? What else? I also got my Spotify yearly recap back and I’m actually rather surprised with what I got…all except for Evynne Hollens. I’m not surprised about that one at all ๐Ÿ˜‚

(Also, in my defense, I’ve only had Spotify for about half the year, and had to work in a place where I didn’t have internet connection for 2 months XD, so it’s not *too* abnormally low?)

What are you doing this time of year? Is it your busiest month too? Are finals stressing you out? What are you currently lighting, choosing, spending, sending, and singing?

Where I’ve Been || Unexpected Hiatus, Senior Year, College Apps

HELLO BLOGOSPHERE!!

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? (Note the irony of my blog relaunch followed by an almost three-month hiatus XD).

Hopefully I won’t leave this time. HOPEFULLY. So, a little recap since the last time I blogged.

Unexpected HiatusHappenings

  • I started applying to colleges! I also got accepted into my first college!
  • I started [dual enrollment] college classes! Chemistry and Calculus 1…it’s hard but also easier than I expected it to be?
  • And I also started senior year! (WHAT HOW AM I OLD ENOUGH?) I’m only taking 4 classes total this year but somehow I’m still super super busy?
  • I started a new bullet journal! (photos/post coming soon!)
  • I finished my summer internship and my volunteer job!
  • I made pumpkin cheesecake brownies for Halloween!
    P1120158.jpg
  • My friend got her license which means that I get to tag along to lots of fun friend things!
  • I drove for the first time. And I also somehow broke the breaks of said car. Which is A++.
  • My parents sold aforementioned car, which is ~20 years old and the car I grew up in.
  • Twitter doubled the character limit, which is NOT OKAY. I AM NOT COOL WITH THIS.
  • It’s Christmas music season!
  • I changed my profile pictures for literally the first time since I started doing internet stuff
    Profile Picture.jpg
  • I become very sleep deprived and have been taking naps almost every day
  • Looking more into my personality and how that influences how I interact with others and how I can help others and stuff like that
  • I found I like twitter the most out of my social medias, in terms of activeness, and Instagram the most in terms of spending time

Music

I haven’t posted since August, so here are the playlists for August through October!

YouTube Videos

A random conglomeration of videos that I saved over this summer.

And that’s it for my recap!

Hopefully I’ll be able to post semi-regularly now, and I may or may not be doing a few collabs soon? I’m also doing a ton of book reviews really soon because my review copies have been piLING UP.

Oh! I’m also doing BLOGMAS again this year! (hopefully, at least) Stay tuned for thattoo!

ALSO! Check out the blogger yearbook here! There are only 5 days left until submissions close!

What have you been doing this fall? Are you applying to colleges? Are you as behind on life (and sleep) as I am? Have you signed up for the yearbook yet?

Let me know down below!

Currently: July 2017

And with that, we’re halfway through 2017. This month’s currently is hosted by Anne and Stephanie! This month, we’re talking about what we’re documenting, accomplishing, enjoying, reading, and spending!

CurrentlyJul17.jpg

Documenting-

Bucket List

My summer, through my bullet journal! With having to work full time (at least for 9 weeks), my goals and stuff for the summer slip my mind reeallyy easily. (If you haven’t seen what’s in it yet, check: Whatโ€™s in My Bullet Journal: Summer Edition + Whatโ€™s On My Summer Bucket List 2017!)

Accomplishing-

To Do ListThings? I feel productive, and I’ve been doing more blogposts? but I’m not really accomplishing much. I have a list of things I need to do, both school wise (college, bleh), and also fun wise (bucket list, crafts to do, etc), and I’m *slowly* going through all of them. (ALSO CRAFTS AND ART ARE GOOD GUYS. THEYRE FUN)

Enjoying-ice

Summer break! I “officially” finish out junior year today (even though I’ve been done for a month) #homeschoolerlife. I’m spending the summer doing lots of crafty things (fun!), and also working -_- (not as fun, but still pretty cool). At least I have more free time (and less brain taxing) than I do usually. Also THE COUNTY FAIR IS COMING UP AND I COULDN’T BE MORE EXCITEDDDDDD

Reading-July TBR.jpg

ALL THE BOOKS. ALL THE BOOKS. I literally have like 30 physical books in my room now that I haven’t read, which literally HASNT EVER HAPPENED BEFORE IN MY LIFE. I’m *currently* reading, though, The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater, which has been so hyped up that I hope it lives up to it. OH, AND IM SO EXCITED FOR OVER MAYA DEAD BODY (by Sandra Orchard) THAT CAME OUT YESTERDAY EEEEEEE

Spending-

Way too much money. These public cafeteria places COST SO MUCH MONEY. Also craft supplies also cost WAY TOO MUCH MONEY. At least I’m making money over the summer TO PAY FOR THE THINGS ESSENTIAL TO LIFE. (but to answer the question: I’m spending money on food and craft supplies)

Linking up here.

What Happened This Month: June 2017

and thus concludes another month. It was an eventful month: the end of the school year and the beginning of summer (and work); it was a month of many, many birthdays of people I love. It was also a good month for my twitter analytics, apparently.

WHTM June 17.jpg

Happenings-

  • SO MANY BIRTHDAYS. Jeneca, Anna Joy, Aimee, Lindsey, Sydney, Vanessa, Abbiee, and my best friend. โค
  • My cousin came over and stayed at our house for two weeks! We also went to NYC together, so that was fun. *spouts Hamilton lyrics*
    615351630559786041?account_id=7.jpg
  • I ‘participated’ in my first 24hour readathon, even though I only finished one and a half books
  • Twitter updated. It’s sleek but weird
  • I started my summer internship. Working 40 hours a week is INTENSE and now I know why everyone on twitter is like #TGIF
  • I revealed the pronunciation of my name to the world and everyone was confused

Awesome-

  • This thread happened

  • The Science Olympiad events for 2018 came out and I got unrealistically excited, particularly because I’m not even doing it next year
  • This

  • I found MBTI Bingo Cards and they are the best thing ever. Also, I’m stereotypically ESFP
  • Reading A Series of Unfortunate Events, and seeing everyone who’s already read it on GoodReads and feeling like you’ve entered some Secret Reading Clubโ„ข
  • Being much too sassy for my own good on my Music Theory notes
  • A little boy at the grocery store who was so happy that his mom bought him his very own drink that he waved at me

Awkward-

  • When you’re at work writing to-do lists of all the things you’re going to do when you get home, but then actually be at home on social media because the wifi at work is terrible
  • When you’re cleaning out your backpack and find a bunch of gum…all partially unwrapped at the bottom
  • Being in the campus library with your backpack upstairs to keep from eating all the food before 2pm
  • Accidentally walking in between a gay couple holding hands in New York City
  • Accidentally being in New York City the week of #NYCPride and being inundated with RAINBOW EVERYTHING
  • The week you’re off work, the office does pizza, team building, and escape room
  • Overhearing two ladies talking about being on their period . . . then seeing that they’re wearing white and pale pink pants
  • Light green and purple scrapbook paper. Like ??? UGLY MUCH???

That Moment When-

  • You’re off twitter for ONE DAY and have to spend 45 minutes catching up
  • There are calluses on your dominant index finger and you can’t type with it on your screen
  • You’re not a gambler, but you wore white jeans
  • One small thing suddenly reminds you of how much you miss something you didn’t know you missed ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•
  • YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A LEGIT PILE OF BOOKS TO READ LIKE WHATTTTT
    July TBR

Quotes-

“Basically, I sound like I know what I’m doing but really, I have no idea” ~me when people ask about college stuff

“I’m going on a keto-diet! No bread, nothing!”

“Oh, it’s national army day today? Time to celebrate! …with cookies”

~me

“Come on, let’s go before I cart away the whole library.” ~me, while carrying 20 books

Practicing-

  • Spring Song by Mendelssohn, piano
  • Bachโ€™s Inventio 5, piano
  • Moonlight Sonata by Mozart, piano
  • Rondo in D Major by Mozart, flute

Blog News-

A *slightly* better month for blogging. I’m only behind because I upped the weekly post count to 3 so that I can catch up on all the books I need to review XD

Well well well…it’s time for everyone’s favourite linkup*: Currently!

* okay, the *only* linkup I do. but still!

Today, Anne and Erin are talking about what we are all planning, wishing, learning, browsing, and going.

CurrentlyJun17

Planning-paint

On repainting my room and redecorating it! There are so many pretty colours and I can’t decide which one to pick! (Comment down below which colour you would paint your room if you had to pick one, from the selection over there! I literally CAN NOT CHOOSE. (Also lowkey having to pick decoration and stuff is so much fun yet also freaky because I have literally the worst fashion/decoration sense ever XD)

Wishing-

thinking.jpeg

For more time! I start working 40 hours a week this week (more on that below), and I still want to have a fun summer…not to say that what I’m going to do this summer won’t be fun! I’m so excited. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m also wishing for new room decor items (fairy lights, anyone?) and that’s so exciting. ๐Ÿ˜€

Learning-learners

To drive! I (finally) got my learner’s permit last week (or so), and I’ve been at driver’s ed every day for the last two weeks! We get to watch all these insane videos of teens driving and getting themselves killed, to ensure we follow all the laws and everything. Fun stuff! *eyeroll* (I haven’t *actually* driven yet, but that’s happening soon AIII) *shameless rips picture off IG story*

Screenshot from 2017-06-09 21-43-28.jpgBrowsing-

Modest swimsuit ideas! This year, Iโ€™m trying to find a more modest swimsuit than what Iโ€™ve worn in the past, and there are so many ideas . . . but theyโ€™re all rather pricey. :/ So Iโ€™m looking for a swimsuit thatโ€™s not above $100 but is also modest. ๐Ÿ™‚ One place I’ve really liked is Cover Up For Christ, a swimsuit store by Bree. Her ideas are all so cute! (This is a shot of one of her suits).

Going-work

To work! I’m legit working this summer for the first time ever! I’ve babysat and taught piano, but this is a legit work thing! I’m interning at a lab (doing what, I’m not sure yet lol), and also volunteering at a local museum, which I’m super excited for. ๐Ÿ™‚

What Happened This Month: May 2017

And with that, I’m wrapping another month. This month has been even worse for blogging than it was last month. Forgive me?

WHTM May17.jpg

Image Credits, editing mine, feat PicMonkey

Happenings-

  • The band concert happened. It was SO MUCH FUN. ๐Ÿ˜€
  • I took two AP tests in a row and didn’t completely die!
  • AVI KAPLAN ANNOUNCED THAT HE’S QUITTING PENTATONIX
  • I finally finished the essay that was 8 weeks overdue *hides*
  • We went on a trip to the Midwest USA
  • I started Driver’s Ed. It’s freaking boring

Awesome-

  • When your Spotify weekly/daily plays the best music :3
  • The memes after the AP tests. ๐Ÿ˜€
  • I went to the library and got like 30+ new books and *heart eyes*
  • When you can’t get a math problem wrong because it’s multiple choice and there’s four choices/chances. #winningatlife
  • Being seventeen years old and discussing crayon colours with your friend
    Screenshot from 2017-05-23 21-31-25.jpg
  • Finding a friend in driver’s ed whom you haven’t seen/been in contact with for at least 4 years, and recognizing them

Awkward-

  • When your earphones randomly die while you’re using it -_-
  • Listening to your concert recording and wincing at how out of tune you were
  • Falling asleep for the last 15 minutes of AP Lang multiple choice because you stayed up too late the night before. o.0
  • When you find out the new French president is married to his teacher that he had when he was 15 and she was 39?????
  • When you somehow know what “artiface” was for the AP Lang test, and wrote an entire essay on it, only to not have spelled it correctly once throughout the essay XD
  • When you go to a graduation party (happy thing) and almost start crying because of hormones
  • When you writing essays is essentially you paraphrasing Wikipedia and citing other sources.

That Moment When-

  • You play Spotify to focus and Spotify plays ads. -_-
  • The College Board says to not share testing material, and you still retweet every meme that you see.
  • You’re running late to Driver’s Ed to learn how to become a good driver, and so your mom is speeding XD
  • You wake up in the morning with lyrics of Guns and Ships in my head, and you’re pretty sure you dreamed-listened to Guns and Ships before you woke up
  • You put a book onto your Goodreads to-read shelf, and then later go back to mark it as read, and Goodreads shows a different edition that you’ve read. -_-

Practicing-

  • Spring Song by Mendelssohn piano
  • Bachโ€™s Inventio 5, piano
  • Moonlight Sonata by Mozart, piano
  • Rondo in D Major by Mozart, flute
  • Flute for band:
    • Lincolnshire Posy
    • Suite of Old American Dances
    • The Stars and Stripes Forever
    • Exaltation by James Swearington (what a name)
  • A few jazz pieces for Bari Sax that I play on bassoon for jazz band
    • A String of Pearls
    • Blessed Assurance
    • Carnaby Street
    • Chattanooga Choo Choo
    • Pennsylvania 6500
    • Sweet Georgia Brown
    • and several others
  • (Finished up all the band pieces bc concert)

Blog News-

And if I had thought last month was bad for blogging…this month was even worse >.<
